Eddie stands at six foot three and two hundred sixty (with the symbiote). Blue eyes and strawberry blond hair. With the assistance of the symbiote, Eddie is able to lift exactly seven hundred pounds. Sadly though, because of cancer and the treatments, Eddie no longer has the body builder image; the only problem is that when Eddie dons the suit, it is difficult to determine just how physically fit his body appears to be. Between work and street appearance, Eddie tends to dress pretty casual. T-shirts, jeans and/or slacks, and sneakers and/or dress shoes - it all depends on the day!

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Eddie is known primarily for his mood swings; from brooding to violence, and has an obsession with being very vindictive, and he feels that the entire world is out to get him, and he feels the need/the want to humiliate those that cross his path. Basically, instead of taking the blame, Eddie prefers to point fingers. Even though he was known by his wife, to have "wit and gentility" - that is the two things he has managed to keep hidden beneath his rough exterior. When not tied with the symbiote, Eddie is your everyday, regular guy. Granted his charming ways border on the line of an obsessed stalker, but it is his basic way of telling a girl: I Like You. A lot!

Oh, and he also carries an unhealthy obsession in regards to Peter Parker where he wants to destroy his world because he blames all his troubles on him.

H I S T O R Y

Born in San Francisco, Edward Charles Brock was raised in a Roman Catholic upbringing to a cold and unloving father from whom he desperately tried to gain approval. Though as a child, he excelled in many subjects, particularly athletics, his father's response was always in the form of half-hearted
encouragements, due to the fact that Eddie's birth had caused the death of his late wife. After reading a newspaper article on the Watergate Scandal in college, Brock quit athletics and switched his major to journalism.

Upon graduating, he moved to New York City and obtained a job at the Daily Globe, a rival of the Daily Bugle. He proved himself to be highly talented, though even this could not get his father's approval. At some point in his career, he married Anne Weying whom was apparently attracted by his wit and gentility, traits he had always hidden from his father.

Sensing an opportunity, Brock decided to investigate a series of murders perpetrated by a serial killer nicknamed the Sin-Eater, and surprisingly came across someone actually confessing to the murders. Brock interviewed the man and The Globe's popularity soared. However, with the authorities pressing for a suspect, Eddie was forced to reveal his subject's identity. To his horror though, it turned out that Spider-Man had caught the real killer and the man he had been interviewing was nothing more than a compulsive confessor. Fired from his job in disgrace, Brock's father practically disowned him and refused to see his son again. With no decent publishers willing to hire him, Eddie was forced to work for sleazy tabloid magazines. Unable to accept responsibility for his own incompetence, Brock blamed Spider-Man for ruining his career and resumed his passion for athletics to reduce stress. Though his rage remained. Tiring of her husband's incessant brooding, Anne divorced him. With both his professional and personal life shattered, Brock contemplated suicide and went to Our Lady of Saints Church where he pleaded to God for forgiveness, unaware the symbiote Spider-Man had discarded lay waiting for him.

The symbiote bonded with Brock, imparting him with the knowledge of Spider-Man's secret identity. Brock and the symbiote named themselves "Venom" and tormented Spider-Man and his family. The symbiote was later revealed to be attracted to Spider-Man, and it attempted to leave Brock and reunite with Spider-Man. The bond between the symbiote and Brock was too strong, however, and the separation resulted in mental trauma to both.

After an extended period of inactivity, Eddie had resurfaced with cancer, and the only thing that was keeping him alive was the symbiote, who - surprise, surprise - did not want him anymore due to the illness. After seeing a spiritual movie, Eddie decided to sell his symbiote off in an auction, swearing off his life of vigilantism.

The winner of the auction was the gang lord Don Fortunato who gave the symbiote to his son, Angelo, in hopes that Angelo would finally make a name for himself. However, since it was just something that wasn't meant to be, the symbiote eventually left Angelo to die in mid-air and found a home in its new host, Mac Gargan who was better known to the world as Scorpion.

After an attempt to kill himself, Eddie was hospitalized. After the help and caring of one of the nurses that he had developed a fondness over, Eddie decided that it was time to reclaim what was rightfully his: the symbiote. Once he was near better health, Eddie hunted down Gargan; he knew fully well that in a test of strength that he would be no match for him, forcing Eddie to rely mostly on street smarts and cheap tricks/shots he had acquired over the years.

In the end, all it had taken was luring Gargan to a bell tower - a place that had started it all for Eddie and birthed Venom.

A B I L I T I E S & S K I L L S & WEAPONS

After the symbiote's brief relationship with Peter Parker and absorbing the powers of Spider-Man, Eddie (unintentionally) became the second weilder of the alien being. These powers were transferred to Brock, so long as he wore the costume. Once he merged with the costume, Eddie was able to lift (press) almost 11 tons or more. The alien costume also replicated Spider-Man’s ability to cling to walls by controlling the flux of inter-atomic attraction between molecular boundary layers. As Venom, Brock could also shoot strands of the alien’s substance in the form of webbing at high pressure up to a distance of 70 feet. The alien’s substance seems to be composed of tough, flexible fibers of organic polymers, which regenerate swiftly after shedding. The strands possess a tensile strength of 125 pounds per square millimeter of cross section. Venom also possesses an extrasensory ability similar to Spider-Man’s spider-sense. This response is not as complicated as Spider-Man’s inherent sense since the alien costume can detect danger from every direction and conduct Brock in plenty of time, however, it is not as efficient as the spider-sense because it takes longer to communicate the danger. And Brock’s reflexes, are not as fast as Spider-Man’s, even though they are enhanced by the alien costume. When distributed at a typical thickness over Brock's body, the symbiote was capable of absorbing bullets from small-arms weapons firing conventional ammunition. The symbiote is however particularly vulnerable to both sonic and heat-based attacks. Also the symbiote has the power to blend in with the background.
